Chimney Repairs in Cullen

Chimneys & Leadwork for Cullen homes

Cullen faces straight onto the Moray Firth. Salt air and northerly gales wear flashing, fixings and ridge mortar, and slates can work loose after winter storms. Chimneys and leadwork are where water most often gets in. We repoint, renew flashing and repair the details around the stack so the weather stays out.

The old Seatown and the town centre have many traditional slate roofs and chimneys, with tiled homes and flat-roofed extensions elsewhere.

What we cover

• Chimney repairs and repointing
• Lead flashing
• Valleys, aprons and soakers

Signs to look out for

• Damp on chimney breasts or around chimneys
• Crumbling or missing mortar on the chimney
• Lifted, split or missing lead
• Leaks where roofs meet walls or valleys
• Debris from the chimney in gutters or on the ground

How we work

Chimneys, valleys and abutments are where water most often finds a way in. We check the pointing and leadwork and repair or renew what has failed — from repointing a chimney stack to renewing flashings, aprons, soakers and valleys. Chimneys and leadwork prices are shaped by the height of the stack, the access needed and how much lead has failed, so we look properly before giving you a figure.

What affects the cost

• The height and condition of the chimney
• How much leadwork needs renewed
• Access and any scaffolding needed
• Whether matching materials are required
